How to tell your story for advocacy

Are you keen to do your own advocacy to make the change that is important to you? Have you wondered how to best tell your story so it has the most impact? The good news is there’s an easy framework that helps inspire change by connecting people to our experiences and motivating people to take action.

This two-hour workshop is an introduction to a framework to help you tell your story for advocacy, including in letter writing, meeting decision-makers or talking to the media. This ‘public narrative’ framework has proven to be an invaluable tool for grassroots advocates, community organisers and social change campaigners.

During this workshop, you will:

  • Learn why we need to share stories to motivate action
  • Have the chance to practice crafting your personal story
  • Support other grassroots advocates with their story
  • Discuss the different ways to share your story, for example, in person, with the media, in writing, to government, in inquiries.
