Thursday 19 November is our next
Day of Action to Raise the Rate for Good
Our supporters across the country will be taking action to secure a permanent and adequate increase to income support and stop the $300 a fortnight cut from 25 September.
Here is how you can join them:
**Use the day to call Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, and your Member of Parliament, to tell them how much the $300 a fortnight cut will make it harder for people to get by (you can do this with others, if you like – see below).
**Post to social media: share a photo of food, or some other essential item, with some text about how the $300 a fortnight cut will affect your ability to cover the basics. Or instead, take a photo with our Raise the Rate for Good sign to post to social media.
**Speak to family, friends, and others in your community about why we need a permanent and adequate increase to income support.
We have two special online events happening on Wednesday the 26th for supporters to come together and take action:
1) Digital Raise The Rate Protest, 11am AEST. ‘Check in’ to Scott Morrison’s electorate office, on Facebook, with a message about how you feel the Government’s plans to lower JobSeeker by $300 a fortnight on September 25. Tag Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, and the Raise The Rate Facebook page. Find out more about this activity here.
2) Phone-Calling Party, 2pm AEST. Join other supporters in a friendly environment, as we call our local Members of Parliament, and other politicians. You will be given lots of info before you make your calls, and get feedback from others. Register here.
